The objective of this unique curriculum is to enhance the knowledge and skills of accounting professionals and prepare entry-level students for a career in accounting, allowing both to attain the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential. M.B.A. in Business Intelligence / Analytics

Information is the lifeblood of every company, as is the ability to identify, gather, extract, and analyze this raw data. Business intelligence uses a variety of software applications to transform these facts and figures into useful information that can then be used as a catalyst for constructive decision making, cutting costs, improving operations, and identifying new business opportunities. With an M.B.A. in Business Intelligence / Analytics, you will make an immediate and valuable contribution to any company, with exceptional proficiency in the science of business modeling, database systems, data warehousing, data mining, and benchmarking.

M.B.A. in Entrepreneurship

The goal of the M.B.A. in Entrepreneurship program is to teach you how to look at business entrepreneurship in an entirely new way. The learning process is designed to inspire and expand the way you approach business challenges and offers a curriculum designed to hone the skills of those who are currently - or aspire to be - an entrepreneur.

By enrolling in this program, you will take many of the traditional courses associated with a general M.B.A. program. Additionally, there are courses that have been tailored to entrepreneurial development. Throughout the entrepreneurship program, you will learn practical skill sets from guest lecturers and esteemed professors�all who have run their own successful businesses. Ultimately, you will learn how to start a business, acquire an existing business, or run a division of a large corporation.

M.B.A. in Finance

The M.B.A. in Finance program provides a broad understanding of corporate finance, securities analysis, portfolio management, and financial institutions and markets.

Once enrolled in this program, you will take many of the traditional courses associated with a general M.B.A. program, along with courses that have been tailored to financial topics. The finance concentration offers courses that place primary emphasis on theory and analysis, and make extensive use of the relevant techniques of economic analysis, mathematics, and statistics.

Most M.B.A. in Finance graduates enter their professional careers with positions in the financial arena of general businesses, investment banking firms, broker-dealer firms, management consulting firms, various departments of commercial banks, and other domestic and international financial institutions.

M.B.A. in Human Resource Management

The Huizenga College of Business' M.B.A. in Human Resource Management program provides a unique perspective on interpersonal and organizational behaviors, and teaches various approaches for managing and motivating employees. Enrolling in the M.B.A. in Human Resource Management program requires that you take many of the traditional courses associated with a general M.B.A. program, along with courses that have been tailored to HR topics. Upon graduation you will be prepared to lead your company�s human resource activities, helping achieve your organizational goals and objectives. You will gain a solid understanding of general business administration acumen, coupled with specialized HRM skills sets in implementing new procedures, solving conflicts, employee benefits and compensation, training personnel.

M.B.A. in International Business

With an M.B.A. in International Business, you will develop the cross-cultural communication skills needed to do business on the world stage. You'll learn to manage conflict in international business, recognize political and social events that affect international business, recognize different monetary systems and currency policy, and gain an understanding of the movement of goods and services between multinational companies.

M.B.A. in Management

Our Day format includes classes that are held on NSU's main campus during weekdays. Our Working Professionals format offers classes on the weekend, during the evening, or even online.

Day

The Huizenga College of Business's M.B.A. in Management Day program, which is designed for the young professional, includes workshops in resume writing, business communication, and interviewing techniques. Classes are offered during weekdays (Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday) and can be completed in only 12 months. Its curriculum teaches essential business acumen, including administration and operations, management, accounting, finance, economics, marketing, and more. Graduates exit the program with a differential competitive advantage, and are prepared to add immediate value to their companies.

Evening

The Huizenga College of Business' M.B.A. in Management Working Professionals format offers classes on alternating weekends, during the evening, or even online. The M.B.A. in Management program features a modern, forward-thinking curriculum that will prepare you to meet the demands of our world's volatile marketplace. The market-driven curriculum provides you with an essential understanding of how business works�from administration and operations, to management and marketing. You will graduate with a matchless skill set that will increase your marketability, as well as your ability to add immediate value to your company's bottom line.

M.B.A. in Marketing

The Marketing M.B.A. program was designed with the needs of different industries incorporated into the course content. The Marketing Manager position is normally described by the Bureau of Labor Statistics as someone responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating marketing policies and programs. Marketing managers also help to determine the demand for products and services, identify potential customers and develop pricing strategies with the goal of maximizing the firm's profits or share of the market.

All of the courses included in the M.B.A. in Marketing will give the potential Marketing Manager or Entrepreneur the tools for strategic thinking and skills that can translate into success!

M.B.A. in Process Improvement

With an M.B.A. concentration in Process Improvement from the Huizenga College of Business, you will be able to identify and analyze business processes while developing innovative courses of action and solutions. PI applies to products and services in a wide range of industries. The Supply Chain course (SCM 5830) provides the motivation and context for high performance, interdependent processes. The Quality Management course (PIM 5005) provides the foundational understanding of "quality" and then the student applies quality management theories in both Project Management (PIM 5010) and Process Improvement Methods (PIM 5020). The PI Methods course relies heavily on the application of statistical methods.

The knowledge and skills you develop in this concentration are able to be third-party certified by internationally recognized professional organizations.

Program Features

  • The Huizenga College of Business is certified as a Registered Education Provider (REP) by the Project Management Institute (PMI) to provide training. A student that successfully completes the Project Management course (PIM 5010) is able to immediately sit for the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM®) exam.
  • The PI concentration curriculum in total is designed to be consistent with the depth and breadth requirements of the American Society for Quality's (ASQ) Green Belt certification requirement. Upon successful completion of the Process Improvement Concentration the student will be prepared to immediately sit for the American Society for Quality (ASQ) Green Belt certification exam assuming they have met the ASQ work experience requirement.

M.B.A. in Sport Revenue Generation

The M.B.A. in Sport Revenue Generation is a completely unique program, designed to meet the sports industry's growing demand for professionals who are dedicated to revenue enhancement. This program was designed to specifically provide students with revenue generation knowledge, skills, and techniques that will set graduates apart from other job candidates. This cutting edge program is literally a one-of-a-kind in the world of sport management education; no other program focuses so specifically on the knowledge and skills needed to generate revenue.

Graduates of the M.B.A. in Sport Revenue Generation program will be prepared for careers in a wide variety of positions in collegiate and professional sports, with teams, leagues, events and tours.

M.B.A. in Supply Chain Management

By enrolling in the M.B.A. in Supply Chain Management program, you will come to understand both the familiarity of domestic suppliers and sophistication of sourcing products and services internationally. Graduates will be able to hit the ground running, capable of making immediate contributions to the management and decision making processes as they relate to your organization's supply chain activities.

Master of Public Administration

With more than 30 years of experience in public administration, the Huizenga College of Business is uniquely poised to meet the needs of an expanding population and government through training and community development. The mission of the Master of Public Administration program is to provide you with management skills to lead public and community agencies, as well as to understand the social, economic, and political context in which public decisions are made.

The MPA program's curriculum has been designed to meet public sector, government, and nonprofit needs in the new millennium based on emerging theory, employee surveys, and focus groups of professional administrators. The result is the most current, relevant, and practically focused curriculum anywhere.

M.S. in Real Estate Development

NSU's M.S. in Real Estate Development (M.S.R.E.D.) program prepares graduates to undertake mid and senior level responsibility in development, management, investment and sales and marketing firms. Graduates enter the industry as emerging leaders knowing how to locate and analyze the diverse aspects of real estate from legal, economic and financial considerations to political and regulatory requirements. The rigorous program is taught in an "Executive" format every weekend. The full immersion curriculum is taught by highly experienced leaders with in-depth knowledge gained from years of actual experience. Classes, in-field case studies and real world projects from noted professionals focus on providing hands-on applications of practical knowledge that can be immediately used. Master of Taxation

The Master of Taxation program is designed to help you develop an understanding of the essential elements of the Internal Revenue Service code and regulations. The program provides both a practical and conceptual understanding, as well as the necessary skills and judgment required to apply the IRS code in actual situations. The taxation courses incorporate an in-depth examination of various aspects of the tax code and regulations and are offered both online and on our main campus. A master of taxation will provide you with the foundation necessary to become a successful tax preparer and adviser in public and private accounting.

Master's Degree Admission/Application Requirements

Admission to the Huizenga College of Business' master's degree programs is competitive. Applications are individually reviewed and admission is offered to those applicants who meet both qualitative and quantitative criteria. All required documentation must be received before an admission decision can be offered.

Admission Requirements:
  1. A conferred bachelor's degree earned from a regionally accredited U.S. institution or equivalent for international applicants, with a 3.0 GPA overall may be considered for admission.
  2. Applicants with a GPA between 2.5-2.99 overall or in the last 60 credit hours of their undergraduate program may be considered for admission, based on the overall review of the application package.
  3. Applicants with a GPA between 2.25-2.49 overall or in the last 60 credit hours of their undergraduate program, and/or applicants with an undergraduate degree from a non-regionally accredited institution may be granted admission at the discretion of the Dean in consultation with the M.P.A. Faculty Admissions Committee. This consideration is based on an overall review of the application package.
  4. For all applicants with an undergraduate GPA below 3.0, the M.P.A. Faculty Admissions Committee reserves the right to place conditions on the applicants' first terms, such as: remedial coursework in appropriate subjects, limit course enrollment to appropriate levels, suspend or dismiss such applicants based upon first term course grades or require GMAT scores of 450+ or GRE scores of 306+.
  5. A Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL or IELTS or PTE Academic) is required for any applicant whose native language is not English and whose bachelor's degree education was not completed in English. The minimum required scores are as follows: a TOEFL score of 550 (paper test) or 79 (Internet test), a score of 6.0 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) exam, or a score of 54 on the PTE Academic exam. Test scores cannot be more than two years old. A letter on official letterhead from the applicant's prior university stating that all bachelor's degree course material was taught and studied in English may suffice for the TOEFL requirement.

  3. Resume.
  4. 2 Letters of Recommendation from employment supervisors (Only required if students overall GPA is less than a 3.0).
  5. An essay of 500-750+ words explaining why you wish to pursue the Master of Public Administration degree and how it will help to fulfill their personal and professional goals. Also, describe in detail your accomplishments, experiences, value, potential for professional excellence and commitment to complete the degree program.
International Applicants:
  • For those applicants who completed their degree outside of the United States, they must have their foreign transcript evaluated by a NACES accredited organization. A list of these organizations can be found at www.naces.org.
  • The independent academic evaluation must list the degree equivalency and include a GPA (grade point average) calculation as well as a course-by-course credit evaluation.
  • The academic evaluation must be completed for all undergraduate work and be performed based on original and official documents.
English Competency (Non-native English speakers):
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required of those applicants whose first language is other than English. Minimum paper score = 550; minimum Internet score = 79.
  • TOEFL scores earned more than one year prior to the date of enrollment will not be accepted.
  • A score of 6.0 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) examination is acceptable in lieu of the TOEFL.
