NSU Core Value: Student Centered

At the heart of my mission in every position that I have held in higher education has been to support and nurture the student's growth and development. My experience at NSU has been my first with graduate students; the developmental stages of the undergraduate are no longer prevalent but I found a different skillset was needed for graduate students. I have drawn from my first career and graduate training in Social Work and my foundation in Systems Theory. I attempt to get to know the students with whom I work in a broader spectrum in addition to academic goals. All that is going on in the student's life, without being intrusive, is important to the understanding of support and guidance needed. At times I find myself advocating for student needs. I believe that is what is expected at NSU...excellent service to our students. I will continue to strive to continue to be a reflection of all core values but will always put "Students First".
