Part-time Participating Faculty at the Huizenga College of Business
Dr. DiBenedetto has held leadership positions in Sales, Operations and Human Resources for 34 years and championed enterprise-wide change initiatives for pedigree companies in the retail/wholesale, financial services, and telecommunications industries, including Publix Supermarkets, Limited Brands, Wal-Mart Stores, Prudential Securities, Wachovia Bank and AT&T. Dr. DiBenedetto retired in March, 2014 as Executive Vice President and Chief People Officer for North Carolina-based General Parts International, Inc. where he led the HR function supporting 20,000 teammates across North America in 3,000 company and independently-owned CARQUEST Auto Parts Stores and 100 WORLDPAC distribution centers.
Dr. DiBenedetto now serves as Part-time Participating Faculty at the Huizenga College of Business at NSU. As well, Dr. DiBenedetto serves as Senior Fellow and Program Director for the Conference Board's Council for the Council of Chief HR Officers II and Council of Division HR Leaders where he utilizes his Human Capital Practitioner experience to assist with select research and facilitation of HR best-practices and networking meetings for senior HR executives of Fortune 500 companies.
Dr. DiBenedetto was elected to the Conference Board's HR Executive Leaders' Council in 2008 and Council on Learning, Development and Organizational Performance in 2001. He is an active member in SHRM and ASTD, and has been featured in Workforce, Talent Management, Training and Development, Chief Learning Officer and Diversity Executive magazines. He earned the ASTD BEST Award in 2006 and Masie Learning Innovation and Leadership Award for his talent transformation work at Wal-Mart Stores. John's lifetime accomplishments were recognized in 2007 when NSU's Huizenga College honored him with its Alumni of the Year award.
Dr. DiBenedetto and his wife, Debbie, have owned a nautical clothing and accessories manufacturing company as well as formed commercial real estate companies specializing in the construction/rental of multi-family units, university student housing and business condominiums in the southeastern United States.
Dr. DiBenedetto earned B.B.A. degrees in marketing and accounting from Florida Atlantic University and a M.B.A. and D.B.A. from Nova Southeastern University.
