To promote the further development of the H. Wayne Huizenga College of Business and Entrepreneurship at Nova Southeastern University, the H. Wayne Huizenga College of Business and Entrepreneurship Board of Governors hereby establishes and creates an Entrepreneurs Council, subject to the ultimate policy-making function of the Board of Trustees of Nova Southeastern University.
To enhance the visibility of the H. Wayne Huizenga College of Business and Entrepreneurship and to support the activities of the Dean, faculty, and students by providing direct connections to the South Florida business community.

Council Members Judge ESCAPE Camp Competition
The H. Wayne Huizenga College of Business and Entrepreneurship at Nova Southeastern University hosted its annual entrepreneurship summer camp for high school students on July 22-26, 2013. The Entrepreneurship Summer Camp and Personal Enrichment (E.S.C.A.P.E) program is designed for highly motivated high school students who wish to learn more about entrepreneurship and the process of starting a business and maintaining ethical business practices. Each day was filled with lectures from NSU professors and South Florida business leaders, lively discussions, and interactive exercises.
This year the camp was attended by 21 high school students coming from Broward and Dade County public and private schools as well as from Tampa, New Hampshire, Jamaica, and Colombia. Prior to the start of camp, each participant wrote an essay on a business that they want to start. By the end of the week they were able to present their business idea in great detail, including mission statement, target market, and start-up costs to a panel of entrepreneurs who then gave them advice on how to make their dream a reality. The panel of judges included our Entrepreneurs' Council Members--Matt Kuttler, Director of Operations/Co-Founder, ReStockIt.com and Founder, Kuttler Strategic Advising, Nathaniel Pool, Founder and CEO, Hackseed, Inc., and Cindy Spritzer, Business Development -- Southeast Sub-Area, Ernst and Young LLP.

Wayne's Broward Baseball Academy and Grand Opening & Dedication of Hal's Power Alley
Entrepreneurs' Council member Wayne Stofsky was proud to lead the announcement for the opening of Hal's Power Alley (HPA) at the David Posnack Jewish Community Center on Sunday, September 30, 2012. HPA is a 4,000 square foot covered, state-of-the-art batting cage facility located on the campus of the David Posnack JCC at the corner of Stirling and Pine Island Roads. Among his many entrepreneurial pursuits, Wayne is Director of the Broward Baseball Academy, a program he launched in the summer of 2011, and housed at the facility. He is also the head coach for the Fort Lauderdale 14, which competed in the 30th annual Maccabi games (Jewish Junior Olympics) this summer. Wayne led the team to the gold medal, playing undefeated in the tournament.

The grand opening and dedication to Hal Rosenberg was well attended by many guests-who all had the opportunity to enter the batting cage and hit a few rounds. The facility includes three batting cages, pitching machines, batting tees and indoor pitching mounds. It is open to the public for rent, so everyone is welcome to bring their team, family or friends to hit some balls and practice making those home runs!

Peter Leshaw has joined the Council as our newest member. He founded iCanOptimize in April 2012, a internet marketing strategy company to help improve your ROI. iCanOptimize provides companies whose growth depends on the internet to improve overall organizational performance through Search Engine Marketing, Email Marketing, Link Rehabilitation, Social Media Marketing, and Reputation Management. Peter is a results-driven individual who understands industry trends and what corporations need to increase their ROI.
The Council has selected Yolanda Harris as its Chairperson. It has also created an executive committee comprised of: Jane Bolin, David Blyer, Scott Roberts, and Ruchel Louis.
Katherine M. Eggleston has joined the H. Wayne Huizenga College of Business and Entrepreneurship as the part-time Director of the Pathway Scholars Program. The PATHWAY SCHOLARS (PATHWAY) program is a uniquely-designed program to help disadvantaged, at-risk high school graduates change their lives, permanently, for the better. This innovative program addresses the whole person today, not just his or her academics, but also the cultural awareness; living situation; and social and business training.
Kathy is very involved with the Fort Lauderdale non-profit community, currently serving on the Boards of Kids in Distress, the Community Foundation of Broward, and the American Cancer Society 1000+ Club. In 2011, she was voted Leader of the Year by Leadership Broward.
The Council has begun a new initiative to assist the Huizenga College with placement of students upon graduation. The members have posted several internship positions and jobs to our internships and jobs websites. Two recent positions have come from Will Corrente, Hyper Local Ventures, and Rob Isbitts, Sungarden Investment Research.
Council member David Blyer's DonorCommunity has partnered with many organizations to assist with their online donations. Some of the organizations include: the Dan Marino Foundation, The Children's Bereavement Center, Jason Taylor Foundation, and many more.
DonorCommunity is growing rapidly by adding an average of two clients per month. The company is based in Florida, with satellite offices in New York, California, Colorado, and Arizona.
Matt Kuttler, and his company, RESTOCKIT.COM, were recognized for being one of the fastest growing tech companies in South Florida. The company was ranked 22 in South Florida among different tech companies. The awards are given to South Florida-based technology companies that are growing the most rapidly by year-over-year percentage growth.
Matt and his business partner, David Redlich, were also finalists for the South Florida Business Journal's inaugural Entrepreneur Awards. The Awards celebrate the many astonishing achievements of the entrepreneurs whose enterprising spirit has delivered for their companies and the South Florida business community.
EC members participate in Entrepreneurial Summer Camp
Bobby Dughi has joined the Council as a member. He is CEO and President of Achieve Insights, a Sport and Performance Consulting company. Achieve Insights works with teams, athletes, and coaches in group workshop or individual sessions teaching mental skills and performance enhancement. Bobby and his team are committed to providing quality instruction, training, assessment, application, and continued support to their clients to help them achieve their optimal performance. Dughi received an M.S. in Sport and Exercise Psychology from Ithaca College, in 2010. He is a professional member of AASP (Association for Applied Sport Psychology).
EC member Lee Feldman Speaks at DECA event
Terri Braun, Founder and President of Kidokinetics, provider of fitness programs for children recently established the first Kidokinetics franchise operation in Dallas, TX. Franchisee Scott Bradley was looking for a new business venture when he came across an article about Kidokinetics in USA Today. After visiting Kidokinetics in Florida, he returned to Dallas and found that many schools were looking for ways to combat the state's childhood obesity problem. Terri joined the Entrepreneurs Council in 2007.
Dr. James Barry and his MBA marketing students completed their Marketing Plan Development Project with the following EC members/companies: David Blyer, Profiles in Concrete, Inc.; Yolanda Harris, The Keynote Group; Rob Isbitts, Emerald Asset Advisors, LLC; Jeffrey Kramer, Kramer Weisman & Associates, LLP; Matt Kuttler, ReStockIt.com; Ruchel Louis, Successful Images, Inc.; and Andy McNeill, American Meetings, Inc.. The projects have been a great exercise for both the students and the participating companies.
Entrepreneurs Council members enjoy the Huizenga College of Business's 2010 New Year's reception at the Bimini Boatyard Bar and Grill. The Bimini is owned by fellow Council member, Steve Hudson.
