Scholarships & Tuition Awards

Education is the key to success, and scholarships can help you make your dream of a college education a reality. The H. Wayne Huizenga College of Business and Entrepreneurship offers a wide range of awards for students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership abilities, and civic responsibility. Scholarship deadlines are dispersed throughout the year, meaning that you have multiple opportunities to secure funding for your academic journey.

Scholarship Opportunities

Who: NSU Students & NSU Alumni enrolled in either of the following two courses: ACT5791 or ACT5792

What: Essay (minimum of two paragraphs) of what becoming a Certified Public Accountant means to you and how the scholarship would support your goal to become a CPA.

Award: Becker CPA Advantage Exam Review Course Scholarship does not cover tuition for ACT5791 or ACT5792 (each course is 1.5 credits). Details via link below.

How Often: 3 scholarships per calendar year

Process: Submit essays to Dr. Kim (joung@nova.edu) & JoAnn Ackerman (ajoanne@nova.edu) for review and selection.

Student may apply for either Becker CPA Candidate Scholarship or HCBE CPA Candidate Scholarship. Eligible for only one award.

Award Amount: $3000  

Deadline: July 15 for Fall Award and October 15 for Winter Award

Requirements:

  • Must be enrolled in Undergraduate Program at NSU Huizenga College of Business and Entrepreneurship
  • Have achieved an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.2, must submit proof

To Apply:

  • Name of Scholarship you are applying for
  • Name
  • NSU ID
  • Degree Program and Major/Concentration
  • Term of Entry
  • Anticipated Graduation Term
  • Short Essay describing why you are applying for the award

Applications that do not have all the required items will not be considered.

Who: NSU Students & NSU Alumni enrolled in either of the following two courses: ACT5791 or ACT5792

Award: $1,000 towards the cost to cover the Becker CPA Exam Review Course as provided by partnership between NSU & Becker. Scholarship does not cover tuition for ACT5791 or ACT5792 (each course is 1.5 credits).

Award Amount: $20,000 awarded each academic year, can be split into multiple awards at the discretion of the Committee.  

Deadline: July 15 for Fall Award and October 15 for Winter Award

Requirements:

  • Must be enrolled in Undergraduate or Graduate Program at the HCBE
  • Preference given to students with an interest in a career in the hospitality industry
  • Preference given to students who are first in their family to attend college

 Scholarship Application

Award Amount: Scholarship assistance for up to four years to earn a bachelor's degree in business

Deadline: Open

Requirements:

  • South Florida high school senior from an underserved population
  • Academically gifted but financially disadvantaged
  • Special interest in a career in business leadership
  • Live on campus
  • Upon acceptance, participate fully in Pathway Scholars events including personalized coaching sessions with NSU Executives-in-Residence, professional relationship development opportunities, and internships with NSU career partners, and more.

The Per-Olof Loof Scholarship aims to support outstanding MBA students, who are studying and aspiring to enter the business analytics field and to excel in the rapidly evolving world of data.

Requirements: MBA in Business Intelligence and Analytics program, must be currently enrolled and have completed at least two courses in the program.

To Apply:

  • Submit Complete Application (see below attached)
  • Submit copy of transcripts to show academic standing and NSU cumulative GPA of at least 3.5.
  • Submit current resume.

All application items must be complete and submitted to: loof.scholarship@nova.edu

Deadline: March 31, 2023

Award Process:
A committee/panel of judges will be responsible for evaluating the submissions and selecting the candidates. The committee/panel will comprise of three HCBE faculty members, and an administration member, if necessary. The committee/panel of judges may request the selected candidates to submit additional information (for example, written essay) and/or invite them for a personal interview.

The committee/panel of judges will make a final selection of up to two (2) candidates to award the scholarship. The scholarship recipients will be finalized and notified around April 15th, 2023.

Winners will receive up to $2,500 each to apply towards tuition.

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

 

Award Amount: Two awards of $3,000 each year

Deadline: October 1

Requirements:

  • Only students who are member of the Strategic Forum Student group are eligible.
  • Awardees are selected by three NSU representatives and two Strategic Forum members.
The tuition award cannot be combined with any other scholarship or award for the Huizenga College of Business. For example, if you are an NSU alumni and also work for a corporate partner, you will only receive one of the awards.

Award Amount: $2,500

Deadline: July 15 for Fall Award and October 15 for Winter Award

Requirements:

  • Must be a Graduate Student enrolled in the MS in Real Estate Development Program, or an Undergraduate Student enrolled in the BSBA in Finance program.

Award Amount: To be determined up to $25,000.

Deadline: May 5 for Fall Award

  • Fully Admitted to the MSRED program for Fall 2023.
  • Undergraduate GPA greater than 3.1.
  • Submission of a 500-word essay answering “What draws you into the real estate development industry?”
  • Two (2) signed letters of recommendation.
  • Current resume, and if available, your portfolio of work.
  • Must be enrolled full time (15 credit hours in Fall & Winter; 6 credit hours in Summer).
  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress of 3.0 GPA throughout program, with no individual course grade lower than “B”.
  • Demonstrate academic strength, leadership ability, and a vision to apply the knowledge and skills from the Terry W. Stiles School of Real Estate Development to your career goals.
  • Personal interview with selection committee may be required of finalists.
  • Need based funding will be considered of finalists.

Tuition Awards & Other Aid Opportunities

Award Amount: $205.20 per credit hour off of the current published tuition rates (does not include fees or other student expenses).

Deadline: Open

Requirements:

  • Students must be a city, county, federal, or other U.S. government employee. (Must provide employment verification letter or a photocopy of government ID picture badge.)
  • Awards are available to new students and currently enrolled in any of the Huizenga College of Business Master's programs.
  • Tuition award is applied to every term.
  • No application necessary.
  • Award open to international students.
The tuition award cannot be combined with any other scholarship or award for the Huizenga College of Business. For example, if you are an NSU alumni and also work for a corporate partner, you will only receive one of the awards.

Current Students

The Best for Our World™ Award will be awarded to students who demonstrate academic strength, leadership ability, and a vision to apply the degree from the Huizenga College of Business to their career goals. This will provide an award between $6,150.00 - $7,575.00.

Deadline: 2 weeks before the start of the term

Requirements:

  • Completed tuition award form.
  • Student must apply within their first term enrolled as a College of Business graduate student.
  • The tuition award is based on a student's undergraduate or graduate performance. Student must have a cumulative GPA of a 3.25 or higher (on a 4.0) scale.
  • Submission of the 500 word essay describing how a graduate business degree will be an asset to you both personally and professionally.
  • If applicant has taken the GMAT or GRE, please provide a copy of the score report.

Note:

  • The tuition award does not apply to fees or other student expenses.
  • Tuition award amount is based on $211.40 per credit hour off of the current published tuition rates. 
  • Requirements are subject to change and this criteria is effective Fall 2023 until further notice.

How to Submit:

  • To ensure your form is considered, your email subject line must include your name. 
  • The application package must be complete when email is received.
  • Documents must be received 2 weeks before the start of the term.
The tuition award cannot be combined with any other scholarship or award for the Huizenga College of Business. For example, if eligible for the Alumni, Corporate/Government and Agent Tuition Award, you will only receive one of the awards.

Requirements:

  • Qualified military personnel include the following: veterans and active-duty Army, Air Force, Marines, Navy, National Guard, or Coast Guard members with military status documents.
  • No application necessary.
The tuition award cannot be combined with any other scholarship or award for the Huizenga College of Business. For example, if you are an NSU alumni and also work for a corporate partner, you will only receive one of the awards.

  • Awards are made to Master's students enrolled in a business program at the H. Wayne Huizenga College of Business and Entrepreneurship.
  • Students must have completed a previous degree at NSU.
  • An application is required. Contact a Recruiter above.
  • Tuition award is applied every term.
  • Award is available to international students.
  • $50 application fee is waived, upon enrollment.
  • Award may not be used in conjunction with any other type of award or discount.
  • Please refer to additional requirements in the current graduate catalog.
