Take Stock in Children Pathway Scholars Huizenga College of Business

Imagine entering a new culture, all alone…

This is what many disadvantaged young people face when they leave the culture where they grew up to enter the world of a freshman at college. And that’s with full scholarship that eliminates even considering the financial cost. The emotional cost to have just one disadvantaged young, academically-gifted person begin a college career only to drop out in the first year because they came from a home culture so different from what they found at college can be high, sometimes even tragic. Freshman year college drop-out rates are now estimated at 56%(1). The effect of such an experience on the student, his/her family, and even the community as a whole, can be devastating. The H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship at Nova Southeastern University, in conjunction with Take Stock in Children, is determined to change this scenario, 20 students at a time, through its Pathway to Professional Prominence (3P) Program. But we can’t do it without your help. For a $15,000 per year commitment for 4 years, your corporation can help transition a disadvantaged young person into an educated, well-adjusted working member of society and, if you see sufficient potential, perhaps they can become a valued employee at your corporation.

Here are just a few ways that your corporation would benefit by helping one of our 3P Program students

BENEFITS:

  • Personally knowing that your corporation is making a major difference in the life of a disadvantaged young person, his/her family, and the community
  • Public association with an innovative program that helps disadvantaged youth become successful professionals

  • First choice access to all 3P students as future employees
