Angelo Elia

Angelo Elia is an Italian-born chef/restaurateur whose dining establishments include three Casa D'Angelo restaurants (Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, and Paradise Island in the Bahamas), as well as a growing chain of small-plate Italian eateries-Angelo Elia Pizza, Bar, Tapas (Fort Lauderdale, Weston, Delray Beach, and Coral Springs). In 2012, he traveled to Sardinia and had an eye-opening wine experience that led him to expand his empire to include winemaking. Elisa's mantra to "always put the customer first and deliver the best possible quality in both food and service" has certainly paid off.
Elia has garnered numerous awards including Zagat's America's Top Restaurants. He earned Wine Spectator's Best of Award of Excellence for the past 15 consecutive years, as well as 100 Best Wine Restaurants in 2012. Casa D'Angelo received a four star review in the Sun Sentinel and the Golden Spoon Award from Florida Trend magazine for the past 13 consecutive years. The Miami Herald touts Elia's Tuscan cuisine as exceptional.

About The Distinguished Lecture Series
YouTube Logo

The Distinguished Lecture Series (DLS) was established by Dean Emeritus Randolph A. Pohlman to inspire students by giving them a glimpse into the minds of successful and outstanding entrepreneurs and business leaders.

Distinguished lecturers articulate lessons learned and provide insight into our often complex business world. Students and the business community benefit from discussions ranging from business ethics to the practical application of academic theory. The general format of the DLS is a presentation, followed by questions and answers, or our speaker may simply "tell their story" and allow our audience to pose questions thereafter.

Initially created for students, the DLS has grown to include undergraduate and graduate students, faculty members, business leaders and distinguished members of our community.

Our past distinguished lecturers include: Jack Welch, Larry Bossidy, The Honorable Clarence Thomas, Robert L. Johnson, Alan Potamkin, Ronald Bergeron, Stephen A. Ross, Ph.D., and H. Wayne Huizenga (recipient of Ernst and Young's 2005 World Entrepreneur of the Year).

High profile entrepreneurs and business leaders interested in participating as a Distinguished Lecture Series speaker should contact the Office of Development at (954) 262-5008.
