Kim Deranek is the Chair and a Professor of Decision Sciences in the H. Wayne Huizenga College of Business at Nova Southeastern University. She is a results-oriented educator and holds both a Project Management Professional (PMP) Certificate as well as a Scrum Agile Master Certificate (SAMC). She has designed and taught both undergraduate and graduate courses within her discipline. Graduate courses include Project Management, Supply Chain Information Systems, Service Operations Management, IS Strategy and Data Management, Lean Entrepreneurship, and Customer and Supplier Relationship Management. At an undergraduate level, she has developed and taught courses in Management Information Systems, Industrial Organization, and Lean Manufacturing.

She has over 25 years industry experience. Prior to teaching, she directed the implementation of an enterprise financial solution for Budget Group Inc. Her consulting experience spans across healthcare, service, and manufacturing industries and includes project management, operations management, facility redesign, process improvement, and software evaluation and selection techniques. She continues to be active in a consulting capacity and prides herself on investigating and implementing innovative business solutions to improve quality, optimize performance, and increase both organizational and supply chain efficiency.

Research interests include the investigation of innovative techniques to improve quality, optimize performance and increase efficiency within both manufacturing and service supply chains. Dr. Deranek has published in top academic journals including Journal of Computer Information Systems, Health Promotion International, Behaviour and Information Technology, Journal of Dental Education/American Dental Education Association, Social Business International, and the Journal of Quality and Reliability Management.

She received a Ph.D. in Technology and a M.S. in Education from Purdue University and received a B.S. in Business Administration from Lawrence Technological University.
